In my classroom, I place a strong emphasis on student empowerment, civic engagement, and social responsibility. As a political scientist, I believe it is important to help students--especially those from historically marginalized communities--develop the confidence to thoughtfully and critically engage with their communities and our political system. I encourage critical thinking, open dialogue, and the exploration of diverse perspectives. Through interactive and collaborative learning experiences both inside and outside the classroom, I aim to foster a sense of responsibility for our political system and society. My hope is that students will leave my classroom with the tools to advocate for themselves and the communities they care about.
This comprehensive course provides students with an in-depth understanding of the principles, structures, and dynamics of constitutional democracy in the United States. Through a multifaceted approach, students explore the historical origins and evolution of American government, examine its core components, and engage in critical analysis of contemporary political issues and policies. By the end of the course, students are equipped with the knowledge and skills to evaluate the American political landscape with a discerning and informed perspective.
